EE8591 DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING
OBJECTIVES:

To impart knowledge about he folowing topics:  Signals and systems & their mathematical representation.  Discrete time systems.  Transformation techniques & their computation.  Filters and their design for digital implementation.  Programmabilty digital signal procesor & quantization efects.
UNIT I INTRODUCTION
Clasifcation of systems: Continuous, discrete, linear, causal, stabilty, dynamic, recursive,time variance; clasifcation of signals: continuous and discrete, energy and power;mathematical representation of signals; spectral density; sampling techniques, quantization,quantization eror, Nyquist rate, aliasing efect.
UNIT Ii DISCRETE TIME SYSTEM ANALYSIS
Z-transform and its properties, inverse z-transforms; diference equation – Solution by z￾transform, aplication to discrete systems – Stabilty analysis, frequency response – Convolution – Discrete Time Fourier transform ,magnitude and phase representation.

UNIT III DISCRETE FOURIER TRANSFORM & COMPUTATION
Discrete Fourier Transform- properties, magnitude and phase representation – Computation of DFT using FFT algorithm – DIT &DIF using radix 2 FFT – Buterfly structure.
UNIT IV DESIGN OF DIGITAL FILTERS
FIR & IR filter realization – Paralel & cascade forms. FIR design: Windowing Techniques – Ned and choice of windows – Linear phase characteristics. Analog filter design – Buterworth and Chebyshev aproximations; IR Filters, digital design using impulse invariant and bilnear transformation Warping, pre warping.
UNIT V DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSORS
Introduction – Architecture – Features – Adresing Formats – Functional modes – Introduction to Commercial DS Procesors.
