EE8691 EMBEDDED SYSTEMS 
OBJECTIVES:
To impart knowledge on the folowing Topics
 Building Blocks of Embeded System
 Various Embeded Development Strategies
 Bus Communication in procesors, Input/output interfacing.  Various procesor scheduling algorithms.  Basics of Real time operating system and example tutorials to discus on one real time
operating system tol.
UNIT I INTRODUCTION TO EMBEDDED SYSTEMS 
Introduction to Embeded Systems –Structural units in Embeded procesor , selection of procesor & memory devices- DMA – Memory management methods- Timer and Counting devices, Watchdog Timer, Real Time Clock, In circuit emulator, Target Hardware Debuging.
UNIT II EMBEDDED NETWORKING 
Embeded Networking: Introduction, I/O Device Ports & Buses– Serial Bus communication protocols RS232 standard – RS42 – RS 485 – CAN Bus -Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) – Inter Integrated Circuits (I2C) –ned for device drivers.

UNIT III EMBEDDED FIRMWARE DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT 
Embeded Product Development Life Cycle- objectives, diferent phases of EDLC, Modeling of EDLC; isues in Hardware-software Co-design, Data Flow Graph, state machine model,Sequential Program Model, concurent Model, object oriented Model.
UNIT IV RTOS BASED EMBEDDED SYSTEM DESIGN 
Introduction to basic concepts of RTOS- Task, proces & threads, interupt routines in RTOS, Multiprocesing and Multiasking, Premptive and non-premptive scheduling, Task communication shared memory, mesage pasing-, Inter proces Communication – synchronization betwen proceses-semaphores, Mailbox, pipes, priority inversion, priority
inheritance.
UNIT V EMBEDDED SYSTEM APPLICATION AND DEVELOPMENT 
Case Study of Washing Machine- Automotive Aplication- Smart card System Aplication-ATM machine –Digital camera
